WHO Study Links Cellphones to Cancer Risk
We have long suspected that the energy emitted by cellphones is harmful to users, but studies have been inconclusive and the wireless industry has been vehement in its denial of the potential risk. This study by WHO shows that there is reason to be concerned. We recommend avoiding long or frequent calls; using a wired headset such as the Plantronics Mobile Headset for most phones; texting instead of talking; and carrying your phone away from your body (not in a pocket). According to a recent report from the Urban Green Council, poorly fitted air conditioners that leave large gaps around windows can cost New York City buildings a total of $130 million to $180 million a year in extra fuel consumption, leading to as much as 525,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Now imagine what the totals are for the entire US!
So this summer, seal up the cracks around your window air conditioners. You'll be amazed at how much electricity and money you'll save! (And your room will stay cooler, too.)
